Many people dream of starting their own business. Theyâre sick of their boss, not earning enough money, not having enough flexibility, etc.
Is entrepreneurship the right lifestyle for you?
For me, Greenbox Storage has been one of the best decisions Iâve ever made. It has allowed me work remotely, seek limitless earning potential, and enjoy extreme flexibility in my day to day life.
But itâs not all sunshine and roses. Here are some cons of entrepreneurship.
Cons of Entrepreneurship
Financial Risk: Starting and running a business involves financial risk. There's a chance of losing your initial investment and incurring debt if the business doesn't succeed.
Uncertainty and Instability: The business world can be unpredictable. Market conditions, competition, and economic factors can all impact a businessâ success.
Long Hours and Stress: Entrepreneurs often work long hours, including weekends and holidays. The stress of managing a business can take a toll on mental and physical health. Itâs Christmas Day and something goes haywire, youâre working. 365 days a year, 24 hours each day, youâre working. There are no breaks!
Initial Investment: Starting a business sometimes requires a significant upfront investment of time and money. If youâre launching a product offering, this is typically the case. A way around this is to start a service business, because they typically donât require a lot of capital.
Pros of Entrepreneurship
Independence and Autonomy: Entrepreneurs have the freedom to make their own decisions and control the direction of their business. They are not bound by the rules and regulations of a traditional job.
Financial Potential: Successful entrepreneurs can earn significant profits and financial rewards. You may earn a 5% raise each year at your W-2, but in business, you have much greater earning potential.
Personal Growth: Running a business is a tremendous opportunity for personal growth and development. It fosters problem solving, time management, leadership, and communication skills. Entrepreneurship can be a vehicle to become your best self.
Flexibility: Entrepreneurs can often set their own work schedules. There is no rigid 9-5. You can workout whenever you want, go to the movies at any time, take a nap whenever you feel like it, etc.
Now itâs your turn to weigh the pros and cons. For me, the stress that comes with running my business is worth it 100x over.
